Step inside through the Corten steel entrance, into a modern, open and inviting environment. The main atrium welcomes you with space to relax, freshen up, or browse.

Visit the i-site Visitor Information Centre and discover all there is to see in our stunning district, or take a load off in one of the many seating areas available, with public toilets, WiFi and device charging facilities available to all visitors. 

Explore the venue, take some time for quiet reflection in our War Memorial space, or venture up to the second floor and soak in the breathtaking views of the Balclutha Road Bridge and the Clutha River Mata-Au. 

Catch an exhibition, stay for a show. There is always something to do at TPŌMA.

Getting Here

We are located at 4-6 Clyde Street, Balclutha, just south of the Balclutha Bridge on State Highway One.

Monday — Friday
8:30 am — 5 pm

Saturday — Sunday
9:30 am — 3 pm

Parking & Facilities

Our carpark is located on Charles Street, beside the facility and opposite Woolworths, with two entrances.

The Te Pou Ō Mata-Au carpark is a free, one-level, uncovered area with space for plenty of vehicles and designated light-vehicle only spaces.

There are a range of public toilets on both levels of Te Pou Ō Mata-Au that are available for all visitors during open hours.

Accessibility

Te Pou Ō Mata-Au is an inclusive venue and welcomes people of all ages and abilities.

Accessible parking bays are located near the facility entrance in our car park - please ensure relevant permits are on display if required.

Accessibility ramps extend from either side of the main entrance of the facility to the doorway. Lift access is accessible from the foyer to the second level.

Our toilet facilities cater for limited mobility and wheelchair access.

Our Story

Te Pou Ō Mata-Au | Clutha District War Memorial & Community Centre is a community-led facility that is owned and operated by the Clutha Community Hub Charitable Trust. 

More than just a building, TPŌMA is inspiring the future, serving the present, and honouring the past.

Our Heritage

TPŌMA pays homage to the roots of the ground in which it stands. Historically a war memorial hall, with a dedicated wing containing the Clutha District War Memorial.

There will be a space dedicated to reflection of significant anniversaries, to showcase the best of what our district has to offer and learn more about our extensive past.

Clutha Development is a not-for-profit, non-charitable membership organisation that is the economic development agency and regional tourism organisation for the Clutha District.

Clutha Development focuses on developing and supporting initiatives that will make the Clutha District a place where people love to live, work, invest and visit.

The Clutha isite Visitor Information Centre is part of New Zealand's official nationwide Visitor Information service. They can provide comprehensive, impartial information as well as booking assistance in the Clutha District, for accommodation, activities, attractions and travel bookings.
